Obituary of Larry Miller

Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry Emery Miller was born in Monroe on December 5, 1950. He was the son of the late Gerald and Fern (Miller) Drewior. He attended Monroe Public Schools before enlisting in the United States Army and serving his country honorably in Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic. He married the love of his life the former Margaret "Elaine" Harmon on June 30, 1973 in Monroe. From this union came the birth of two children. Larry loved being outside, and his work afforded him this opportunity. For more than thirty-nine years he was employed by the Monroe County Road Commission. He worked as a truck driver and laborer on the sign and tile crews retiring in 2012. Larry never seemed to sit still. He continued his love of the outdoors with most of his hobbies. He had a passion for vehicles - cars, motorcycles, dirt-bikes, boats and snowmobiles. Larry loved classic cars, was an avid NASCAR fan and never missed the Woodward Dream Cruise. At times, Larry could be the ultimate Redneck engineer, but he was nonetheless an excellent mechanic and painter. Larry enjoyed drag racing and had his own bikes and cars over the years. A perfectionist, Larry was known for his big, generous heart, quiet confidence and his willingness to share his time and talents with anyone. Larry Emery Miller, age 65 of Monroe passed away on Saturday evening, March 5, 2016 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
