Alonzo Aaron Fisher Sr. was born July 4, 1941 in Monroe. He was one of ten children born from the union of the late John and the late Genevieve (Austin) Fisher and attended Monroe Public Schools. Alonzo married the love of his life, the late Lillie (Lee) Fisher on May 2, 1964 in Monroe. From this union would come the birth of three children. He supported his family through employment at Ford Motor Company as a Machinist. Alonzo was known to be an outgoing extravert with a flamboyant wardrobe. He was a man of contradiction and had many stories to tell. Alonzo kept his family as his number one priority, enjoying every moment he had to spend with them. Alonzo like to spend his free time improving his fitness. He was very proud of his role helping his family and any other person that came in his life. In 1956 and 1957 he was a weightlifting champion and in 1958 we won the body building championship. He was also awarded the Key of the City on July 4, 1998 having the day named after him. Alonzo Aaron Fisher Sr., age 74, of Monroe, passed away at 5:50pm on Saturday, February 27, 2016. In addition to his parents, a brother (John Fisher) and a sister (Marilyn Miller) his passing was preceded by his loving wife of thirty-nine years: Lillie Fisher, several siblings and his beloved canine companion: "Savage." To cherish his memory, he leaves his children: Alonzo (Elena) Fisher of Monroe, Shonda (Donald Nisley) Fisher of Monroe and Olanders "Ty" (Tammie) Fisher of Monroe; five sisters: Lillie Bramlettte, Zelma Harris, Carolyn Kyles, Johnnie Mae Russ, Mary McNare, Delephine Fisher, and Mattie Hoye; seven grandchildren: Jessica Fisher, Jenna Cook, Jordan Howe, Raven Anteau, Aaron Anteau, Symone Thomas, Alexia Fisher and Joshua Fisher; and three great grandchildren: Shanyle Anteau, Demetrius Fisher and Levi Virtue. Friends may gather from 10:00am - 11:00am on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe (734)241-7070. A Going Home Celebration will follow at 11:00am also at Merkle's with Bishop Rance Allen of New Bethel Church of God in Christ, Toledo officiating.
