Evelyn Marie Sowder was born in Monroe, Michigan on March 7, 1952 from the union of the late Everette Sowder and the late Samaria Barton. On July 19, 1969 Eve married the love of her life, Michael Frostell. After Michael's discharge from the USMC they made their home in Monroe. From this union came the birth of a two children; Corina and Michael. Evelyn (Eve) worked many jobs in her lifetime but found her passion in caring for others. From the late 1970's into the 1980's she was employed by Beach's Nursing Home, as a nurse's aide and then went on to work as a private home caregiver to many families throughout Monroe County. For the last twenty four years she was employed by Sister Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, starting as an aide then a switchboard operator/receptionist, retiring in July of 2015 due to illness. Aside from being a lover of country music and coffee, Eve had many talents and hobbies at which she excelled. She loved to bake for holidays and work in her yard among her many flower beds. During her own Chemo - Therapy treatments she could be found crocheting hats for other cancer patients as well as hats, booties and blankets for pre-mature babies at the local hospitals. She also made lap blankets and sent them to the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Ann Arbor. Evelyn, was content spending her free time at home watching her favorite television shows; Castle, Blue Bloods, NCIS, Bones and the many, many re-runs of "In the Heat Of the Night" She was also an avid reader of James Patton, Mary Higgins Clark, Ann Rule and many others. She spent many hours in her craft room working on one project or another. There wasn't anything that she couldn't do, she loved sewing, knitting, flower arranging, jewelry, candle and soap making along with pressing flowers, brush stroke painting, making decorative fruit and vegetable platters and making Christmas ornaments. Her home displays many of her talents as do many family members who were lucky enough to receive one of her handmade gifts. Evelyn, age 63 of Monroe passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her loving guardians; Kelly and Mary "Sissy" Ellison, a brother; Donald Essary and a sister; Judith Sowder.
