On December 3rd, 2015, Jon Roger Fisher born January 19th, 1950, lost his five year battle to ALS. He passed away in his home in Monroe, Michigan surrounded by his loving family. Jon was married to his high school sweetheart, Diana Jean Emplit for forty-eight years and they were inseparable. A 1968 graduate of Alliance High School the couple moved to Telluride, Colorado in 1973, where they raised their only child: Jon Scott Fisher and then happily lived the next forty years. Jon was a singer and songwriter and he enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to hunt, camp, fly-fish and play softball. Jon worked as a limo driver in Telluride for years, where he had the opportunity to drive many celebrities. He never met a stranger as he was a great conversationalist and people loved to listen to his colorful stories. Jon was also a writer and he had a poem called "The Quilt," published in a book about AIDS. Jon was very courageous with his own battle with ALS and he never gave up. Jon leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife: Diana Jean (Emplit) Fisher, his son: Jon Scott (Melissa) Fisher; his father: Chris Fisher; three sisters: Sally (Sigh) Searles, Christy (Bob) Beichler and Deborah Kopnisky; a sister and brother-in-law: Sandra (Bill) Heady; three grandchildren: Brooke Ody, Blake Ody and Hayden Fisher; and many nieces and nephews. He joined his brother: Patrick Fisher; and his mother: Patricia Fisher who preceded him in his passing. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested Arbor Hospice of Ann Arbor, Michigan or to the ALS Foundation of Michigan. A Celebration of Jon's Life will be held in Telluride, Colorado in the Summer of 2016. Local arrangements were entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
