Betty Ann Roach was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 23, 1927. She was the only child born from the union of the late Lynn and the late Lydia (Klawitter) Roach. Betty graduated in the class of 1945 from Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio. Betty married the love of her life, Bruce VanTress , on August 24, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio. From this union came the birth of five beautiful children. Betty worked diligently to take care of her home and raise their children. After Bruce's passing, Betty rejoined the work force as a Unit Clerk at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Toledo, finally retiring in 1993. Betty loved to cook, she enjoyed trying new recipes and making all sorts of creations. She was a fan of NASCAR racing, cheering on Jeff Gordon through his career. In her younger years Betty was an avid Bingo player at various halls. Betty Ann VanTress, age 88, of Point Place, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her beloved husband of 31 years: Bruce VanTress; and son: Ronald "Ronnie" VanTress. To cherish her memory, Betty leaves one son: Bruce (Marsha) VanTress of Toledo; three daughters: Sally VanTress of Toledo, Valerie (Martin) Witberg of Tennessee, and Judith (Michael) Cunningham of Luna Pier; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren with one on-the-way; and one great-great grandchild. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, Erie, 9156 Summit Street, (734) 848-5185. Private Services have taken place. Memorials for those who may desire may be made to ProMedica Ebeid Hospice or the American Lung Association in Betty's honor.
