Obituary of Noel Westly Williams II

Please share a memory of Noel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Noel Westly Williams II was born in Monroe, Michigan on June 28, 1950.  He grew up in a close-knit family, one of ten children born to the union of Noel Westly Williams and Dorothy Raymond (Bracey) Williams.  He was a 1968 graduate of Monroe High School.

Noel was a wonderful provider for his family.  He was employed by Detroit Edison at their Monroe “coal burner” plant for more than thirty years.  He worked as an A Operator before becoming a Senior Fuel Supply Operator.  He was a proud member of the Local.

For more than forty years Noel shared his life with Marcia Jo Montague. They were married on February 14, 2007, in Monroe.  The couple was blessed with the birth of two daughters.  He enjoyed nothing more in this world than spending time with family, whether it be special events, parties, or holidays.  In general, he loved being around people, celebrating the heights, and supporting each other through the lows of life.  He truly looked for an excuse to get together, with spirited card games such as tunk, blackjack, poker, and pitty pat being common occurrences.

After Noel’s retirement, he and Marcia became ardent travelers.  With family often in tow, they took jaunts across the country and even the world to far off destinations like: Jamaica, Barbados, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.  They enjoyed taking cruises as well.  With all the journeys one of Noel’s favorite places to visit was that of New Orleans.  He loved the culture be it the dancing, music, and food.  Every chance he had he suggested returning to New Orleans.  The couple also enjoyed visiting the MGM and Motor City Casinos and the Kentucky Derby together.

Noel enjoyed the outdoors and spent time hunting in Northern Michigan with several of his coworkers.  He also loved to fish all around Michigan, but Lake Erie in Monroe County was a favorite destination.

Noel Westly Williams II, age 74 of Monroe passed away on Monday; November 18, 2024, at the University Hospitals in Ann Arbor after a lengthy illness.  His passing was preceded by his parents; wife: Marcia on March 24, 2014; a sister: Valerie Williams on November 15, 2011; and a brother-in-law: Gerald Doss.

To cherish his memory he leaves two daughters: Nicole Montague and Deanna Montague both of Monroe; five sisters: Vanita Leslie (Edwina) Caldwell of Northfield, Michigan, Annetta Doss of Prospect, Kentucky, Sheila Williams of Brownstown, Michigan, Marj (Debi) Bennings of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Loretta Williams of Ypsilanti, Michigan; three brothers: Doug (Sharon) Williams of Grand Blanc, Donald (Nancy) Williams of Santa Cruz, California, and Mark Williams of Monroe, Michigan; five grandchildren: Alex Harris Jr., Tavion Harris, Jayden Hall, Nicoven Hall, and Zamir Austin; four great grandchildren: Alex Harris III, Londyn Harris, Nicoven Hall Jr., and Nilaya Hall; and a host of nieces and nephews.
