Obituary of Nancy Jo Spreeman

Nancy Jo (Beck) Spreeman was born in Monroe, Michigan to Gustave Beck and Marie (Schmidt) Beck.   She was confirmed in 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church where she remained a member throughout her life.  A 1952 graduate of Monroe High School, Nancy received her Registered Nursing Degree from Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in 1955.  She worked as a Pediatric Nurse in Cincinnati for several years before transferring to Mercy Memorial Hospital, where she continued to serve the community for 18 years.  She then went on to work in private practice for 17 more years.

Nancy married the love of her life, Raynor Spreeman, in 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church.  She was a loving mother and a caring wife to Ray for more than 50 years.  After retirement, the couple traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to spend time with their daughter and enjoy the beach and warmer climate.  They also went to their cottage on Tee Lake, in Lewiston, Michigan where they enjoyed the Upstate Michigan weather with David and Sherrie.  Nancy enjoyed gardening, her pool, coloring, but especially her crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Nancy Jo Spreeman, age 89 of Monroe passed away peacefully on Friday; October 18, 2024, at Fountain View of Monroe where she resided and made many friends who came to know and love her.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Fountain View for the excellent care they provided and the staff of Beacon Hospice, especially Sheanna and Laurie, in the last few weeks. 

Nancy is survived by her children: David (Sherrie) of Lewiston and Molly (Michael) Connelly of Acworth, Georgia; grandson: Austin Rice of Acworth; stepchildren: Frank (Gwen) of Monroe, Michael (Kathleen) of Scottsdale, Arizona, and daughter-in-law: Michele Spreeman of Toledo; step grandchildren: Tonya Barr, Jennifer Mistry, Todd Spreeman, Andrew Spreeman, Caroline Connelly, and Carter Connelly; step great grandchildren: Tyler Laprad, Savannah LaPrad, Amelia, Brynn, and Hadley Mistry; and step great-great grandchildren: Carson and Graham Laprad.  Sadly, she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Raynor; stepson: Mark; step granddaughter: Melanie Spreeman; a brother Robert Beck; and sisters: Leila Beck and Shirley Geer.

Friends may gather from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday; October 21, 2024, at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185.  A Funeral Service Celebrating Her Life will follow at 7:00pm with Pastor John Carrier of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.  Private burial will take place on Tuesday; October 22, 2024 at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
