Obituary of Edna Moore

Please share a memory of Edna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ednearl Ruth Kauffman was born on September 11, 1940, in Monroe, Michigan. She was born from the union of Earl and Ruth (Lajiness) Kauffman and raised with four siblings.  Edna graduated from Ida High School, with the class from 1958. She met the love of her life; Roy Moore and the happy couple were blessed with the birth of five children.

Together, Edna and Roy shared a love for exploration which they eagerly passed on to their five children. Many vacations were spent journeying across the country.  By the time their children had grown, Edna and Roy had taken them to most of the fifty states. They were passionate about traveling internationally, taking her children on occasion.

In the community, Edna was recognized for her dedication and leadership as the Regional Director for the Boy Scouts of America. Passionate about promoting a love for the outdoors and community service in young people, she played a crucial role in expanding and enriching the scouting experiences in her area. Under her direction, the district was named "Running Waters”.

Bowling was one of Edna’s cherished pastimes. In her early years, she and Roy spent many nights at Nortel Lanes with her sister: Pauline and brother-in-law: Kenny and later in life her children and grandchildren also joined the leagues with her. She was often seen riding on the back of Roy's Honda motorcycle as part of the “Gold Wing Riders” motorcycle club. They took many trips cross country with the group.  Edna was a big supporter of the Monroe Public Library, frequenting the Robert A. Vivian Branch. She passed her love for books and movies to her children and grandchildren.

Family was everything to Edna. She truly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved going to the movies, visiting amusement parks, traveling and hosting family dinners. She loved shopping and spoiling her grandchildren whenever possible.

Edna Ruth Moore, age 84, of Monroe, passed away in the Emergency Department of ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital on Sunday; September 29, 2024. Her passing was preceded by her parents; her husband of fifty years: Roy; and two sisters: Clara Jefferson and Monica Cunningham.
