Obituary of Zachary Alan Zalenski

Zachary “Zack” Alan Zalenski was born on December 28, 1991, at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan. He was one of three children born to the union of Nicholas Zalenski and Margaret Kirk. He attended Airport High School in Carleton, Michigan, graduating with the class of 2010. 

Zack was a kind, loving person with a big heart.  He was full of life and strived to make everyone happy.  Zack was very handy and an amazing welder by trade who was always willing to lend a helping hand.  He loved being in the outdoors, whether in the woods hunting or anywhere on the water fishing. He was excited about his upcoming trip with his friends and family to Manistee to catch salmon.  Although family time and fishing were two of the most important aspects in Zack’s life his true passion was making music, and he was known to many as the “Unknown Artist”.  

Zachary “Zack” Alan Zalenski, age 32 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday; September 1, 2024, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. His passing was preceded by his paternal grandparents: Monica and Leonard Zalenski; his maternal grandmother: Noreen Davis; a paternal uncle: Christopher Zelenski; and his aunt: Victoria.  

To cherish Zack’s memory, he leaves his father: Nicholas Zalenski; his mother: Margaret Kirk of Monroe; two sisters: Samantha Zalenski and Amanda Zalenski and his brother in law; Joe Shackleford, all of Monroe; and nephews: Lucian and Ronan Shackleford; and numerous additional family and friends.  

Friends may gather from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday; September 6, 2024, at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185.  A time of sharing memories of Zack will begin at 7:00pm also at Merkle’s.
