Obituary of Carol Stroupe

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carol Stroupe was born in Asheville, North Carolina on September 4, 1938.  He was one of twelve children born from the union of Herbert Franklin Stroupe and Lula Dolly (Townsend) Stroupe.  He enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country honorably.

He married Barbara Joyce Farner on December 17, 1960, in Southgate, Michigan.  The couple was blessed with the birth of three children, and they moved to Monroe County in 1973.  The couple worshipped at Expansion Baptist Church in Southgate.  For thirty-one years, Carol provided for his family with employment at Ford Motor Company.  As proud member of the United Auto Workers he worked as a welder repairman, retiring in 2000.  As the head of the family, Carol also provided a rock-solid foundation for his family and showed unwavering loyalty to family and friends alike.

Carol was dependable, a man of his word, and always did good work no matter the job.  He was insightful, outgoing and held a unique sense of humor and wit, which he shared generously with those he loved.  Those on the receiving end of his teasing cherished it as a sign of affection.  Because of all this, his family and those around him adored him.  Carol believed in the power of education and often preached the value to his children which, in turn, set them up for success.  Self-taught in many different fields and areas of knowledge, he continued throughout life to pass this knowledge on to his children and others along with the idea that if one sets their mind to a thing, they can achieve it.  His advice was sought after and always sound.  He was a great lover of music that spanned a wide range of genres and styles from R&B to country. He also enjoyed golfing, playing and rangering at numerous local courses.

Carol Stroupe, age 85 of Monroe, passed away at home on Sunday; August 25, 2024.  He was surrounded by his loving family.
