Obituary of Chandler Lee Bowman-Bean

Chandler Lee Bowman – Bean was born on March 27, 1997, in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of three children born to the union of Stephen Bean and Shannon (Smith) Bowman but was adopted by his stepfather: Paul Bowman in 2020.  Chandler developed a love of sailing at a very young age, taking five years of sailing courses at the North Cape Yacht Club. He also enjoyed playing football and soccer.  Chandler attended Dundee High School, graduating with the class of 2015.  

 

Chandler enlisted in the United States Navy on October 6, 2015, and was assigned for three years to the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS George Washington where he was stationed in Norfolk, VA.  He was deployed to Rota, Spain and then Guam.  On May 4, 2018, Chandler became a part of the United States Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the, Seabees, which form the Naval Construction Forces (NCF). He completed his training in Port Hueneme, California where he was graded 99 out of 100 in his platoon. His specialty was a construction mechanic for rebuilding heavy equipment such as the humvee.  Chandler loved serving his country and had planned to continue making it his career and eventually retire from the Navy.  

 

On November 21, 2016, in Monroe, Chandler married the love of his life, the former Madison Layton and together the young couple was blessed with a beautiful daughter: Bentlee. Chandler was a great husband and very devoted father.

 

Chandler Lee Bowman-Bean, age 27 of Gulfport, Mississippi passed away on Wednesday; June 26, 2024, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. His passing was preceded by his Papa: Merle Smitty Smith; his Pappy: Richard John Schneeman; his grandmother: Andrea Bowman; and his uncle: Dean Smith. 

 

To cherish Chandler’s memory he leaves his loving wife of seven years: Madison Bowman of Gulfport, Mississippi; a daughter: Bentlee Bowman of Gulfport; his mother and stepfather: Shannon and Paul Bowman of Erie, Michigan; his father: Stephen Bean of Monroe, Michigan; sister: Taylor (Bryce) Bowman of Erie; step-sister: Christina Clawson of Monroe; brother: Dylan (EJ) Bowman who is stationed in Germany with the Air Force; step-brother: Brice (Monica) Bowman of North Carolina; grandmother: Carol Smith of LaSalle, Michigan; uncle: Shawn Smith; and nephews: Lincoln, Lennox, Aiden, Adrian, and Kingston. 

 

A celebration of Chandler’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday; July 6, 2024, at Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138; 400 Jones Ave, Monroe, Michigan 48161.  Military honors will be presented at 2:00pm under the auspices of the post Ritual Team.  Local arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070.
