Obituary of Dorothy Mae Parott

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dorothy Mae (Shroyer) was born July 12, 1935, in Petersburg, Michigan. She was one daughter of eight children born from the union of Thomas and Esther (Gliford) Shroyer. Dorothy married the love of her life: Kenneth Parott and the couple was blessed with the birth of five children.

Crafting Christmas decorations became a beloved hobby for Dorothy. Every year, she would handmake delicate ornaments adorned with intricate details, bringing an extra touch of magic and love to the holiday season. Crocheting was another one of Dorothy's cherished pastimes. She spent countless hours creating beautiful blankets, doilies, and doll clothes. Each piece was a labor of love, often gifted to family and friends.

Dorothy had a green thumb that was evident both inside and outside her home. Her indoor plants thrived in a cozy environment, while her outdoor garden burst with lush foliage. Walking was Dorothy’s way of connecting with the world around her. She found peace and joy in wandering through her neighborhood, exploring nearby parks, and relishing the fresh air. However, her favorite entertainment was watching airplanes. She marveled at their grace and the sense of freedom they represented, finding a quiet thrill in observing their flights.

Life took a dramatic turn when Dorothy’s husband passed away. Despite the heartache, Dorothy found comfort in the company of her siblings. They would gather often, engaging in lively conversations. These moments of familial bonding were a source of comfort and strength, helping Dorothy navigate the difficult times.
