Obituary of Jill Lynn Sharpe
Jill Lynn Sancrant was born on June 10, 1967, in Monroe, Michigan. She was born from the union of Charles Sancrant and Sharon (Labardee) Sancrant. She attended Monroe Public Schools. Jill married her true love, Marine Corp veteran William E. Sharpe on July 29, 2006. They remained married until his untimely passing in October of 2016.
Jill was the embodiment of a doting grandparent, and one of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. She relished the opportunity to take her grandchildren shopping, delighting in finding little treasures and spoiling them with gifts.
Beyond her family, Jill lived an exciting social life with BINGO nights at the local VFW hall being her favorite. She also had a liking for adventure, as she loved trying her luck at the quarter slots at the Greektown Casino in Detroit. The casino was not about winning or losing for her; it was about the experience, the joy of being in an environment brimming with energy and excitement.
Dining out was another passion Jill enjoyed immensely. She cherished the moments spent sharing meals with loved ones, whether at the Golden Corral, with its endless buffet spread, or The Rice and Shine Chinese Buffet.
A deeply sentimental person, Jill had a favorite phrase she often repeated to her family and friends: "I love you to the moon and back." These words encapsulated the boundless nature of her love and commitment. It was her way of assuring those around her that they were always cherished, no matter where life's journey took them. She was, and always will be, the glue that held her family together, reminding everyone that family and love are the greatest treasures of all.
Jill Lynn Sharpe, age 56, of Monroe, passed away at 4:40pm on Sunday; May 26, 2024, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Her passing was preceded by her father: Charles Sancrant; her husband: William "Bill" Sharpe; a sister: Kristy Moore; a brother: Scott Alan Sancrant; her maternal grandparents: Violet and Carl Labardee; her paternal grandparents: Jim and Jean Sancrant; and her stepfather: Jerry Lee Smith.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her daughter: Chelsea (Daniel) Bomia; her mother: Sharon Sancrant-Smith; two sisters: Brooke Heide and Bobbi Heide; two brothers: Jim (Sue) Sancrant and Bill Sancrant; three grandchildren: Lilyanna Brown, Violet Bomia, Daniel Bomia, III; nieces and nephews: Kim Sancrant, Amanda Sancrant, Billy Marie Sancrant, Eric Moore, Miranda Moore; and great nieces and nephews: Jaxon, Ellie, Olivia.
Friends may gather from 11:30am until 1:30pm on Monday; June 3, 2024, at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of Her Life, led by Steve Reese, will take place at 1:30pm, also at Merkle’s. Procession will follow the service to LaSalle Township Cemetery for inurnment. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
