Obituary of Patrick Jude Doran
Patrick Jude Doran, age 75, of Monroe, passed away peacefully Monday; November 20, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Pat was born on July 9, 1948, in Monroe, Michigan. He was the son of Wilbert Doran and Charlotte (Baker) Doran. He attended Jefferson High School where he lettered in football and track, graduating with the Class of 1966.
On April 11, 1970, he wed the love of his life, the former Cheryl Bowman, at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. The couple enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage and were blessed with a son, Brandon. Early in his career Pat worked for the Local 324 Operating Engineers. Ultimately his career transitioned into the robotics industry, where he wore many hats for Graco Robotics-ABB, before retiring in the early 2000’s.
Pat was very active in many clubs and organizations. He was an avid outdoorsman and passionate conservationist. Pat loved spending time in nature, fishing, and deer hunting at his cabin in Northern Michigan, alongside his family and friends. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially woodworking. Pat was a very outgoing man, who always had a good story or witty comment ready for anyone who would listen.
His passing was preceded by his parents; his brother Michael Robert; and his three half-sisters Erma, Virginia, and Cora.
To cherish his memory, he leaves a loving wife Sherry Doran; a son Brandon Doran and beloved daughter-in-law Rachael (Sachs) Doran; two granddaughters Ava and Elliana, who were the light of his life; a sister-in-law Terry Bowman McLendon, who looked to Pat as a big brother; several nieces and nephews; and a long list of lifelong friends who were all very blessed to know him.
Friends may gather on Monday November 27, 2023, from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service North, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Patrick’s Life will be held at Merkle’s on Tuesday November 28, 2023, at 11:00am. The procession will then travel to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Michigan for burial. Immediately following, a luncheon will be held at Monroe County Rod and Gun Club to celebrate his life and share memories of Pat.
