Obituary of Una V Paul

Please share a memory of Una to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Una V. Cupp was born on December 21, 1941, in Halls, Tennessee. She was the eldest of seven children born to Clarence and Lou Etta (Heath) Cupp. Una was a graduate of Karns High School in Knoxville, Tennessee.

On April 1, 1961, Una wed the love of her life, Orville Henry Paul. The couple enjoyed fifty years of marriage and were blessed with two children. An extraordinarily strong woman, Una was among the first female employees at Dundee Cement. After more than twenty-five years of service, she retired in the mid-2000’s with one of the top positions in the plant.

Through her work at the plant, Una gained remarkable strength in her arms.  This became a tremendous asset to her as she excelled as a pitcher on the Dundee Women’s Softball Team.  She was also a great bowler on her league in Toledo, Ohio.

Una enjoyed the natural beauty of her home state of Tennessee. Each Summer she looked forward to spending two weeks camping in Tellico Plains. She and her sister, Faye, fished for Trout while the men stayed back to watch over the camp.  She also loved being outdoors at her own home in Dundee. Una’s beautiful, lush flower garden became so well-known people drove by just to see it. She was equally talented in the kitchen with her family looking forward to her Christmas cookies and candy every holiday.

Una kept herself busy playing games on her iPad. She tuned in to watch “Family Feud” and “Everybody Loves Raymond” faithfully. She had a sixth sense for when her shows were coming on and could tell the time without looking at a clock. A talented crafter, she learned to make ceramics and taught herself to create just about any project. Una cherished her collection of angels. Very outgoing and friendly, she never met a stranger. She wasn’t afraid to try something new and in fact seemed to be successful with whatever she set her mind to do.

Una V. Paul, age 81, of Dundee, Michigan passed away peacefully at her home under the care of Heart to Heart Hospice on Wednesday; September 27, 2023. Her passing was preceded by her parents; her husband: Orville Henry Paul Sr. in 2011; her son: Orville Henry Paul Jr.; her grandson: Aaron Paul; her sister: Kimberly Baltrip; and her sister in-law: Sandy Cupp.
