Obituary of Samuel Lucio

Please share a memory of Samuel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Samuel Lucio was born on February 13, 1949, in Robertstown, Texas. He was one of six children born to the union of Secundino and Paulita (Salzar) Lucio.  He attended Erie Mason High School in Erie, Michigan, graduating with the class of 1969.

Samuel provided for his family by being employed for thirty-eight years as a Production cleaner for the Ford Motor Company.  He retired in 2005. Following his retirement, Samuel worked as a security guard at Monroe High School where he loved interacting with all the students.  He was also proud to have obtained his CDL, driving a semi-truck for Roy Davis for three years.

On January 12, 1989, at the Monroe County Courthouse, Samuel married the love of his life; the former Rebecca Ewert. Together the couple was blessed with a daughter:  Mary.  He had been blessed to have daughters: Annette and Samantha from his previous marriage.

Samuel loved being outdoors whether he was on the open road with his Harley Davidson motorcycle, riding his bicycle, or taking a stroll after dinner with Rebecca around the neighborhood. He enjoyed listening to all genres of music, but country and Mexican always caught his attention. Samuel liked cooking and specialized in dishes that were true to his Mexican heritage. He loved vacationing in Traverse City, Michigan or off-roading in a jeep up and down the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Mears, Michigan.  When he was lounging at home he often watched MMA or UFC fighting.

Samuel Lucio, age 74, of Monroe passed away on Sunday; September 16, 2023, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan after an extended illness.  He was surrounded by his loving wife and family.  His passing was preceded by his parents: Secundino and Paulita Lucio; a brother: Oscar Lucio; and a sister: Sally Adamski.

To cherish Samuel’s memory he leaves a beloved wife of thirty-four years: Rebecca Lucio of Monroe; three daughters: Annette (Lydell) Williams or Romulus, Michigan, Samantha (Jason) Hayter of Belleville, Michigan, and Mary (Colin) Elkin of Munster, Indiana; two sisters; Carlota Rios and Alice (John) Orosco; one brother; Pete Lucio; eight grandchildren; Joshua and Jacob Bezeau, Kameron (Allison) Williams, Omar Williams, Carmelous Williams, Carmenia Williams, Marcus Lucio and Lukas Elkin.
