Obituary of Dale Miller

Please share a memory of Dale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dale Miller was born on April 26, 1936, in Dundee, Michigan. He was one of two children born from the union of Ervin J. and Edna J. (Koster) Miller. Dale obtained his diploma from Dundee High School, graduating in 1954. Soon thereafter he embarked on an impressive career in the automotive industry at Ford Motor Company. For four decades, he dedicated his skills and knowledge to this field.

Growing up on a farm, Dale developed a deep connection to the land and his roots. Despite his demanding job, he often made time to help his parents by driving their tractor on their farm after work. This showed his unyielding commitment to family and the value he placed on hard work and perseverance.

On September 29, 1956, Dale married the love of his life, the former Kay Fairbanks, and together they were blessed with two children. The couple had a special relationship and were a true example of love and devotion until her passing in 1998.

Dale's passion for the outdoors and his love for hunting led him to become a founding member of the Dundee Sportsman’s club. He truly appreciated the camaraderie and friendship he found among his fellow members while shooting trap.

Each year, for the first two weeks of July, during the auto industry shut down, the Miller family journeyed to Northern Michigan, usually to Mio but occasionally to Silver Valley on a camping adventure.  They enjoyed the simplicity of life in a pop-up camper, creating unforgettable memories together. Dale often took on turkey hunts with his trusty shotgun and deer hunts with his rifle. He relished the time spent in nature, typically joined by his dear friend Joe Secor who shared his love for the outdoors.

Dale often filled his free time "puttering" around in the garage. Though he may not have had a specific project in mind, he found solace and contentment in simply being surrounded by the tools and equipment that fueled his passion for all things mechanical.

For the latter part of his life, Dale found solace in the company of a dear companion, Joanne. They enjoyed countless pontoon rides, basking in the beauty of nature and the tranquility of the water.
