Obituary of Denise Lynne Taylor

Please share a memory of Denise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Denise Lynne Taylor or “Nina Bug” as she was affectionately known by many was born on May 29, 1957, in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of four children born to the union of Norman Carl and Rose Marie (Nolff) Taylor.  Denise attended Jefferson High School in Newport, Michigan and although she never graduated, she was very proud to have earned her GED later in life.  Denise was blessed with two children; a daughter Stacey and a son; Rick.

Denise first met David Grahl back in the sixth grade and it wasn’t until 1987 that Denise and David decided to become a couple, a relationship that lasted for twenty-one years until he sadly passed away in 2008.  Denise was very family oriented and being fascinated with her own family's heritage she started researching ancestry in the early 2000’s and was very excited to discover the Nolff family origins as far back as the 1500’s.  She also learned that the first Nolff descendent settled in Carleton, Michigan in 1881.

Denise loved her feline companion named “Kitty” but had several other adoring names she called it. She was fascinated with the Kennedy Family and had a Kennedy Family book collection and even a canvas painting of former President John F. Kennedy.  She enjoyed listening to Tracy Lawrence and always turned up the volume when his song “Time Marching On” hit the airways. She liked watching reality shows with “Storage Wars” and “Ridiculousness” being her two favorites.  Her most enduring trait, however, was her sense of humor and her ability to make anyone burst out with laughter.  Denise had fun changing the titles of television shows and making everyone think of what she was saying, for example instead of Law and Order SVU Denise would say she loved the show “Chicago Law and Order SUV”.

Denise Lynne Taylor, age 66, passed away on Saturday; August 25, 2023, at her daughter’s home.  Her daughter was by her side and she was under the care of Elara Hospice. Her passing was preceded by her parents: Norman and Rose Taylor and her loving companion; David Grahl.

To cherish her memory, she leaves a daughter: Stacey Taylor of Newport; a son: Rick Taylor of Monroe; two sisters: Brenda Nutt of Monroe, Michigan and Linda Sharp of Newport; and a brother: Brian (Amy) Taylor of Newport.

A Celebration of Life was held several weeks ago with Denise being the guest of honor.  No additional public services are planned at this time.
