Obituary of Brandon Gary Gentry

Please share a memory of Brandon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Brandon Gary Gentry was born on May 16, 1983, in Wayne, Michigan. He was born from the union of Gregory Gentry, Sr., and Dawn Kristine (Holbrook) Fontana.  He attended Plymouth Salem Schools prior to obtaining his GED.

Brando, as he would become commonly known, married the love of his life, the former LaTasha Trapp, on November 21, 2015, and the couple was blessed with the birth of three children.  Family was his greatest joy, and he found solace spending time with his children, nieces, and nephews. Whether it was simply being in their presence or embarking on exciting outings to the movies or Slurpee runs, Brandon reveled in laughter and happiness. Being just a big kid himself, he had a unique ability to connect with them.

Born with an unyielding love for the great outdoors, and an adventurous spirit, Brandon's connection to nature propelled him towards starting his very own arboriculture business, “Gentry Tree Service”.  He thrived on adrenaline-inducing activities such as zip lines, sky bridge walks, and polar plunges with the kiddos.  His love for the thrill of the unknown reminded others to embrace life’s adventures without hesitation.

Brandon had a passion for music as well.  He enjoyed the sweet melodies of Christian and country genres, which further energizing his zest for life.  In his own circle, he was a guiding light to many around him.  He continually encouraged those he encountered to be the best version of themselves. His heartfelt quotes from the Bible were a testament to his unwavering faith and commitment to serving the Lord. He exemplified compassion, ever ready with open arms, offering hugs even to strangers who simply needed one. His selflessness and unwavering belief in the goodness of people taught others to be more empathetic and kinder.

Brandon Gary Gentry, age 40, passed away at 7:27pm on Monday; July 31, 2023, at Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills.  At his death, his selflessness shone through as he gave the gift of life to others through organ and tissue donation.  His passing was preceded by both sets of his grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and a cousin: Ricki Boudakian.

To cherish his memory, he leaves a loving wife: LaTasha Janine Gentry; three children: Gauge, Leda, and Madeline; his mother and step father: Dawn and Vince Fontana; five brothers: Greg (Charlene) Gentry, Christopher Clink, Zachary Clink, Brian Gentry, and Bradley Gentry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
