Obituary of Jade Melissa Bagley
Jade Melissa Cunningham was born on May 4, 1992, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was the middle of three daughters born from the union of Scott Greg Cunningham and Jill Marie (Koras) Cunningham Trowbridge. Jade was educated in the Erie Mason School District through the ninth grade. Being a talented volleyball player, she transferred her sophomore year to Bedford High School, where she lettered for three years prior to graduating with the Class of 2010. Her perseverance and dedication paid off earning her a full ride scholarship to play volleyball at Division I, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) in Indiana.
On May 24, 2019, Jade married the love of her life, Eric Bagley at the Norwest Christian Church. Together the couple raised their two children. Jade was exceptionally proud to be a homemaker and care for the needs of her family. She also stayed dedicated to volleyball, continuing to mentor young athletes as a club coach in Toledo through Premier. Her journey as a coach began in high school when she helped to lead summer camps through Bedford Public Schools. She loved the opportunity to nurture the potential in young athletes and instilled in them the love and dedication she herself had for the game. Jade's prowess as a player undoubtedly enhanced her abilities as a coach, allowing her to provide valuable guidance and support to her athletes.
As much as Jade loved coaching, nothing stood in the way of her spending time with her own children. She loved to make memories with them looking forward to vacations and camping. Sports continued to be a big part of life whether she was coaching, playing herself, or watching. She was an avid Michigan Wolverine fan with quite a disdain for the team from Columbus. Jade loved music and attending concerts and had traveled with Eric to Las Vegas and Traverse City to watch her favorite band, Old Dominion perform in person. Along her journeys she spent a great deal of time shopping, another of her favorite activities.
Jade Melissa Bagley, age 31, of Temperance passed away at home on Tuesday; August 1, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Arbor Hospice. Her passing was preceded by her mother in 2017; a grandfather, Paul Bromley in 2020; and a grandmother-in-law: Carol Bagley.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband: Eric of Temperance; two children: Jillian Bagley and Drew Hendrick; her father: Scott (June) Cunningham of Clarkston, Kentucky; her stepfather: Kenneth Trowbridge of Erie; two sisters: Brittnay (John) Poupard of Monroe and Jessica (Blade) Bowman of Erie; grandparents: Ella Bromley of Luna Pier, Joe Cunningham of Temperance, and Nancy and Dennis Koras of Detroit; mother and father-in-law: Jeff and Lisa Bagley of LaSalle; a sister-in-law: Heather (Jeff) Blanchett of Carleton; a nephew: Dylan Dusseau; four nieces: Jaedyn Dusseau, Ozzy Bowman, Adrianna Blanchett, and Abriella Blanchett; grandmother and grandfather-in-law: Al and Carol Bagley of Monroe.
Friends may gather on Friday; August 4, 2023, from 2:00pm until 7:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 7:00pm, also at Merkle’s, with Pastor Chuck from Northwest Christian Church officiating. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
