Obituary of Pamela Rae Higgins

Please share a memory of Pamela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Pamela Rae Wertenberger was born on September 30, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio. She was one of three daughters born from the union of Herbert Wertenberger and Janet Marlene (Weilnau) Mayhugh.  Pamela was educated through the Monroe County Intermediate School District.

Pamela had a kind and beautiful heart.  She always looked for the best in others and never uttered a negative word about anyone.  Pam embodied a spirit of understanding that left a lasting impact on those around her. She consistently demonstrated the power of empathy and the beauty of acceptance, redefining what it means to be a true friend.

On August 29, 1998, Pam was joined in marriage to the love of her life: Daniel S. Higgins at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe. The happy couple was blessed with twelve wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2010.

Pam found joy in the simplest of pleasures. She had an infectious laugh, a sound that seemed to carry for miles and instantly brought joy to those around her on the gloomiest of days.  It was well-known that she liked games of chance.  She was always excited to visit some of her favorite places, Greektown Casino in Detroit or Hollywood Casino in Toledo.  There she spent countless hours spinning the reels of the slot machines. The sounds of success and anticipation mirrored the twinkle in her eyes, as she reveled in those thrilling moments.

But what truly defined Pamela was her remarkable nature and unwavering positivity. She possessed a heart of gold, always quick to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word to anyone in need. Even in times of difficulty and sickness, Pamela would persevere with a smile, never burdening others with her pain.
