Obituary of William Wayne Griffin
William Wayne Griffin, or “Bill” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was born on December 12, 1956, in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of two children born to the union of Bill and Alma (Lawson) Griffin. Bill attended Monroe High School in Monroe. He was employed as a furniture mover for Sack’s Furniture in Monroe for many years. A devout Christian, Bill worshiped at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe.
Bill enjoyed playing softball and shooting pool. His talents at the pool table were so remarkable that he had won many pool tournaments for Annie’s Bar in Monroe. Bill loved spending time outside close to nature and would often camp at the Covered Wagon Camp Resort in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. He loved to listen to country music. Current hits or classic tunes, it didn’t matter to Bill. As he grew older in life, Bill began to live more in the moment. He indulged his every craving. He just “had to have” his Double Bubble bubble gum, Diet Mountain Dew and Jimmy John’s sandwiches. As much as Bill enjoyed shooting pool or sitting around a campfire listening to country music, there was nothing more important to him them spending time with his grandchildren. Full of energy, Bill was always the life of the party from the beginning till the end.
