Obituary of Ronald R. Nagel

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ronald R. Nagel was born on January 9, 1940, in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of three children born from the union of Nester and Margaret (Lietaert) Nagel. Skip, as he would become known, attended, and graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1958. Following commencements, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, honorably serving his country.

On November 26, 1992, Skip married the love of his life, the former Sharon Hubert. Family, to Skip, was of utmost importance.  He loved spending time with them, and his kind and caring demeanor made him a favorite to be around.  He was employed in the maintenance department for Mercy Memorial Hospital for over twenty-five years.

Skip was always eager to lend a helping hand and share his vast knowledge on various topics. A true Jack-of-All trades, if he didn't know how to complete a task, he figured it out.  Skip was a gifted craftsman, creating beautiful pieces of furniture and completing various home improvement projects.

As a very dedicated individual, Skip spent much of his free time fixing and restoring classic cars in his garage. He was particularly fond of Chevy Corvettes and Ford trucks.  On many occasions he painstakingly restored and transformed old worn-out vehicles into showroom-worthy automobiles.  Even as his health declined, he often spoke about getting back into the garage and tinkering with cars.

Ronald “Skip” Nagel, age 83 of Monroe passed away at 6:47am on Wednesday; June 21, 2023, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. His passing was preceded by his parents.
