Susan Marie Gedelian was born in Michigan on March 14, 1952.  She was one of five children born to the union of Ohenig and Delores (Schinigbarger) Gedelian.  Growing up in Newport, Susan attended Jefferson Schools in Monroe graduating with the class of 1970.

Susan was employed as a clerk at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Michigan for several years.  She enjoyed all the holidays with the Fourth of July being her favorite.  She was sure to spend every waking moment outside hanging with family and friends, watching the fireworks, driving through Sterling State Park, or taking pontoon rides with her Wisconsin cousins.  Susan cherished the time she shared with her older sister: Billie Jean Stevens, and went out of her way to spoil her family. When Susan wasn’t outdoors exploring, she could be found shopping at Meijer or watching the Indiana Jones or Star Trek sequels. She had a love for all breeds of dogs.

Susan Marie Gedelian, age 71 of Newport, Michigan was welcomed with open arms at Heaven’s Gate by her Lord on Thursday; March 16, 2023, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital in Monroe, Michigan.  Her passing was preceded by her parents: Ohenig and Delores Gedelian; two sisters:  Billie Jean Stevens and Nancy Gedelian; a brother: Wayne Gedelian; and her brother-in-law: Timothy Rice.

To cherish her memory Susan leaves her sister: Patricia Gedelian of Newport, Michigan; her stepmother: Iva Gedelian of Frazer, Michigan; five nephews: Dean (Zoe) Stevens of Willis, Michigan, Joseph (Grace) Rice of Newport, Michigan; Christopher Gedelian of Fort Myers, Florida; Charles (Marcie) Stevens of Tennessee; Joshua Gedelian of Florida; an uncle; Elmer (Joyce) Gedelian of Pennsylvania; an aunt:  Arlene Gedelian; and several cousins. Susan’s family will miss her dearly and cherish all the fond memories they hold close.
