Obituary of Nancy Jean Nemeth
Nancy Jean Wiederhoft was born on September 19, 1942 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She was one of two daughters born to Charles H. and Jean M. (Voorhies) Wiederhoft. Nancy attended Ypsilanti High School in Ypsilanti, Michigan, graduating with the class of 1960. After high school Nancy furthered her studies at Cleary College obtaining her associates degree in business.
On September 21, 1963 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan Nancy married the love of her life: Paul Nemeth. Together the couple would be blessed with two beautiful and supportive children: Traci and Jeffrey. She worked as an accounting clerk for JcPenney for more than twenty years. She retired in 2000 so that she could help care for her two grandchildren; Paige and Brady, whom she loved very much.
Nancy was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Belleville. She was an avid reader, willing to read any type of book if the title caught her eye. She enjoyed working around the yard, gardening and tending to her flowers. Nancy and Paul loved to travel whether it was to Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Boston, Florida, Aruba or her favorite destination; the family cabin on Elbow Lake in Meredith, Michigan. She loved animals and for many years had several cats, Bassett hounds, and her most recent fur baby: Luke, a Catahoula Leopard dog to complete her home. Nancy enjoyed the holidays. Although she loved to decorate for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Easter, Christmas was her absolute favorite time of year. Nancy enjoyed the beauty of a fresh snowfall and true to form her favorite song was “Let it Snow” and movie “Prancer”. All that knew Nancy, reveled at her beautiful heart and generosity . It was often said that she “loved giving more than receiving”.
Nancy Jean Nemeth, age 80 of Van Buren Township, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Thursday; February 23, 2023 at Corwell Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan. She was surrounded by her loving family. Her passing was preceded by her parents: Charles H. and Jean M. Wiederhoft.
To cherish Nancy’s memory she leaves her loving husband of fifty-nine years: Paul Nemeth of Van Buren Township, Michigan; a daughter: Traci (Mike) Beckley of Van Buren Township; one son: Jeffrey (Lindsay) Nemeth of Van Buren Township; one sister: Judy (Donald) Samworth of Newberry, Michigan; and two precious grandchildren: Paige and Brady Beckley.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will take place at a later date. Her care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162. (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory; Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
