Obituary of Tammy Fowler

Tammy Gay Larkin was born in Lorain, Ohio on November 20, 1958. She was the daughter of the late Charles Larkin and the late Wanda (Cummings) Larkin. She was a graduate of Summerfield High School. For more than thirty-five years Tammy served others in the food service industry as a waitress, including employment at Elias Brothers Big Boy. Tammy was an extraordinary mother and grandmother, and a caring, compassionate sister. She raised her children with a gentle heart and a firm hand. The joy of grandchildren later in life became her passion and she was very proud of each and every one of them. Tammy didn't have a selfish bone in her body, and she always wanted the needs of others to be fulfilled. Tammy Gay Fowler, age 53, of Monroe passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2011 at her home. In addition to her parents, Tammy's passing was preceded by a daughter: Tosha Fowler on December 8, 2007, and two sisters: Amy Sue and Mary. To cherish her memory Tammy leaves behind her three sons: Edward B. Fowler and Tammy of Monroe, Jeremy Fowler of Westland, and Justin Fowler of Monroe; one daughter: Kristin (Teddy) Mitchell of Allen Park ; two sisters: Cindy (Jim) Dingus and Trula Larkin; and six grandchildren: Jon, Deven, McKayla, Curtis, Katlyn, and Chloe. Friends may gather from 4:30pm until 7:00pm; Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 7:00pm with the Reverend Wayne Ramey, an associate pastor of New Heights Community Campus Church in Southgate officiating. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
