Sharon Kay Spangler was born in Toledo, Ohio, on November 24, 1948. She was the only child, a daughter born from the union of John Andrew Spangler and Margaret (Baker) Spangler. In 1967, Sharon graduated from Waite High School in Toledo.

On May 13, 1968, she married the love of her life, James Louis Mang, Sr. at St. Thomas Aquinas in Toledo. To assist in providing for her family, she was employed in the hospitality industry for many years, employed as a manager and waitress at the Country Skillet at the Howard Johnson and also at the Holiday Inn Hotel.

One of Sharon's favorite places to visit was Northern Michigan, where she found solace in the beauty of nature. The serene landscapes and fresh air offered her a respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether it was strolling along one of the shores of the Great Lakes or exploring the picturesque scenery, she cherished the tranquility that Northern Michigan offered her.

A lover of literature, Sharon enjoyed diving into the pages of books and immersing herself in the stories they held. Her reading preferences were varied, often alternating between the captivating tales of romance and the riveting suspense of mysteries and thrillers.

Sharon had a creative soul and found fulfillment in expressing herself through oil painting. She dabbled in this medium, using strokes of color to create beautiful and meaningful works of art. Her artistic endeavors served as both an outlet for her emotions and a way to share her unique perspective with others.

Above all, Sharon possessed an extraordinary love for pets and animals. She was known for her compassionate heart and her unwavering dedication to rescuing and caring for stray animals. Her home was a safe haven for those in need, and she showered them with affection and kindness. Her love for animals knew no bounds, and she strived to make a positive difference in their lives.

Sharon Kay Mang, age 75, of Monroe passed away at 11:40pm on Friday; December 8, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Her passing was preceded by her parents; her husband on February 12, 2010.

To cherish her memory, she leaves three children: Michelle Marie (John) Drown of Monroe, James Louis (Kelly) Mang Jr. of Brazil, Indiana, Bridgette Kay Carroll of Monroe; ten grandchildren: Britini Schlump, Paul Mang, Gage Harmon, Conner Harmon, Taylor Carroll, Alexis Kill, Luke Carroll, Drew Harmon, Matthew Carroll, Liam Sarchenko; and four great grandchildren: Jack Schlump, Colt Schlump, Charlotte Mang, and Boone Kill, with one due on Christmas Day.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan. A private inurnment of her cremated remains is planned for the spring of 2024 at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
