Donna Beason

September 7, 1949 - August 24, 2022

Donna Boedicker was born on September 7, 1949, in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of three daughters born from the union of Charles Robert and Selma Anne (Moede) Boedicker. Donna graduated from Monroe High School and furthered her education by attending classes at Monroe County Community College and Eastern Michigan University.

Donna was a hard worker and an excellent provider.   She was employed as an Operator for the Detroit Edison Powerplant.   Despite working many twelve-hour days on a swing shift, she was a wonderful and devoted mother always ensuring her family was cared for.   Many times, she effortlessly designed and sewed costumes for her daughter, Becky.   This quickly earned her a reputation as the “Best Pageant Mom” as well.

Donna cherished time spent at the family cabin in Grayling, Michigan alongside her granddaughter, Kayleigh, her sister, Sheila and her nieces and nephews.   She and Kayleigh had a special bond sharing many weekends at Donna’s home.   Kayleigh was particularly fond of Donna’s homemade from scratch oatmeal for breakfast.

Donna was always the first to volunteer to help anyone in need. She agreed to assist even if the task at hand was not desirable, but solely because she wanted to spend time with those involved with the assignment.   From preparing meals, baking desserts, and canning various foods, Donna was often in the kitchen helping her sister, Sheila.   Known to her family as the “female handyman”, her experiences in life provided her a vast knowledge of many different things.   She could seemingly fix anything, often having a suggestion or shortcut to complete a task.   Donna was detail oriented and organized.   Her meticulously wrapped gifts looked as if they were completed by a professional.

When she took a moment for herself she delved into the pages of a good Romance novel or Science Fiction book, especially ones written by Anne McCaffery her favorite author.   After her retirement, Donna dabbled in quilting often attending shop hops and quilting retreats to hone her skills.   She was extremely competitive, never backing away from a challenge.

Donna Beason, age 72, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at 1:50pm on Wednesday; August 24,2022 at Beaumont Trenton Hospital.   Her passing was preceded by her parents; her sister: Cherylynn Graczyk; one son: Brett Thomas Beason; and her former spouse:  Vernon Bruce Beason.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her daughter: Rebecca (Alan) Weikum, her sister: Sheila (Mark) Wellman; one granddaughter: Kayleigh Beason; two brothers-in-law: Thomas Graczyk and Kenneth (Kathy) Beason; three nieces, three nephews; and eight great nieces and great nephews.
