Obituary of Michael Sakuh Johnson
Michael Sakuh Johnson was born in Pontiac, Michigan on September 14, 2010. He was the son of Kari Ann Lem and Ontaygo Johnson.
From the age of 2, he was a student at the Monroe County Intermediate School District where he was to say the least one of the favorites. Each morning he bravely rode the bus to school, often ripping off his socks the moment he was on board. He and his grandmother had a special relationship as she many times helped him to get ready for his day all while listening to his favorite tunes. When asked about his school day he usually uttered a “whew” with a lack of enthusiasm. However, his response was just the opposite when asked about his girlfriend, “Blondie”.
Michael loved the company of others, and being born blind, he made the most of his other senses. He was especially fond of his siblings and loved to be in their company. Touch afforded him great joy and they often threw around different texturized balls. Michael enjoyed bath time, the feel of the faucet, and catching the water. He loved having company to the home and the introduction of new voices. Many times he just enjoyed rolling around on his blanket while grooving to the music.
To cherish his memory he leaves mother and stepfather: Kari Ann Lem and Henry Jones of Monroe; his father: Ontaygo Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; maternal grandmother: Preab Berry of Monroe; one sister: Mijia Beene of Monroe; three brothers: Kobey Jones of Monroe, Braylon Johnson of Monroe, and King Jones of Monroe; maternal aunt: Susie (Chad) Duvall of Temperance; two maternal uncles: Cheuth Lem of Monroe and Chhat Lem of Cambodia; and thirteen cousins.
Friends may gather from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday; August 11, 2022 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. Reverend Dr. Daniel Potts of Trinity Lutheran Church will lead a devotional at 7:45pm. Cremation will follow through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
