Obituary of Mae Depew

Please share a memory of Mae to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mae Depew was born on July 28, 1936 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. She was one of seven children born from the union of John and Mitty (Sinders) McDonald.  In 1959 in Corbin, Kentucky, Mae would marry the love of her life, Edward Depew and together the couple would be blessed with nine children.

Mae loved playing bingo and although she was a frequent fixture at the Knights of Columbus she wasn’t too proud to play wherever she found a game. She enjoyed going for long car rides and taking peaceful walks to admire the beauty of God’s creation.   She also cherished the time she spent tending to her flowers or working in her yard.

Mae often visited thrift stores in search of hidden treasures.  Some of her fondest “picks” came as  she found knick knacks like American Indian trinkets and Angel figurines.

Mae was a people person, happiest when she was checking in on friends or in the presence of family and especially grandchildren. Being a wonderful mother and grandmother she was loved by all.   Even her neighbors affectionately came to know her as “Mamaw”, one of her many nicknames including “Bigin” and “Honey Bunny”.
