Obituary of Juanita Louise Kominek

Please share a memory of Juanita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Juanita Louise LaBelle was born on December 30, 1944 in Trenton, Michigan. She was one of five children born to the union of Robert and Garnett (Arquette) LaBelle.  Juanita attended Airport High School in Carleton, Michigan, graduating with the class of 1962.   Just a few days after graduation, on July 14, 1962, she was joined in marriage to the love of her life, Floyd Frank Kominek at St. Mary Church in Rockwood, Michigan.

Juanita and Floyd were blessed with two children of their own.  “Soupy” as she was lovingly known had a very strong work ethic, and was always on the move.   She was kind-hearted, loving, and caring.   A social butterfly, she never met a stranger, and often struck up random conversations with people she met on the street.   She enjoyed volunteering at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church to make pies for their fish dinners and fairs.

Family was most important to Juanita and she relished her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Soupy exuded joy and happiness.  With a bright smile that warmed any room it was virtually impossible not to feel loved by her.

She enjoyed camping and loved visiting casinos with Hollywood Casino in Toledo, Ohio being a favorite destination.

Juanita and Floyd took great pride in their yard painstakingly working to make sure it was just right.  This labor of love was quite successful in that the perfection they created could have been featured on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens.  The ultimate host, Soupy, enjoyed entertaining in her back yard oasis at the “shanny”.  She was prepared to have a good time with drinks for all.

For many years she worked outside the home as the Manager of the Carleton Speedway gas station.
