Obituary of MaryAnn Dolores Russell
MaryAnn D. Russell was born on July 12, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio. She was one of five children born to the union of Sylvester and Jesse (McGovern) Hulisz. MaryAnn attended Bedford High School in Temperance, Michigan graduating with the class of 1957.
On January 24, 1958 in Lambertville, Michigan MaryAnn married the love of her life, Mr. David Russell. The couple was blessed with six children. MaryAnn worked for ten years as a stock room clerk at Value City Furniture before retiring in 1990.
She loved to play bingo and try her luck at various casinos with Hollywood Casino in Toledo being her most frequent destination. MaryAnn liked to plant and grow all kinds of flowers and house plants. She enjoyed baking and had a sweet tooth for desserts and her own wonderful brownies. Even though everyone seemed to crave her desserts, MaryAnn was even more famous for her breakfast meals especially homemade biscuits and gravy that no one ever turned down. Of all the things that encompassed her life nothing compared to the joy she received from spending time with all her grandchildren.
MaryAnn Dolores Russell, age 82, passed away on Monday; April 18, 2022 at the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Her passing was preceded by her loving husband of fifty-five years: David Russell; her parents: Sylvester and Jesse Hulisz; her grandson: Tyler Osborne; two sisters: Sylvia Hobe and Irene Nowak; and her sister in law: Barbara Hulisz.
To cherish her memory she leaves three daughters: Jean (Jeffrey) Wohlgamuth, Julie (Darren) Hixson, and Sylvia Russell all of Toledo, Ohio; three sons: David (Kathy) Russell and Dale Russell both of Temperance and Michael (Chasity) Russell of Holland, Ohio; one sister: Jean (David) Meller of Swanton, Ohio; and one brother: Jim Hulisz of Montpelier, Ohio; twenty precious grandchildren; and twenty-two precious great grandchildren.
A Celebration of MaryAnn’s life will be held on Saturday; April 23, 2022 at 2:00pm at her home, 9986 Minx Road, Temperance, Michigan 48182. Her care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, Erie; 9156 Summit Street, Erie, Michigan 48133 (734) 317-7199. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation also of Erie.
