Obituary of Nancy Mae Rigel

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy Mae Hodgin was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 14, 1938. Nancy was one of two children born from the union of Thomas and Helen (Fausey) Hodgin. Nancy attended Dundee High School and shortly after, Nancy would meet the love of her life, Clair “Jake" Rigel. They would be joined in Holy Matrimony at St. Irene Catholic Church in Dundee where she would actively attend Mass for decades.   Together this happily married couple of fifty-nine years would be blessed with the birth of five children.

Those who knew Nancy best, appreciated her sense of humor, loving care and on occasion her feistiness.   Nancy would dedicate thirty years of her life to being a caregiver, caring for those who couldn’t care for themselves.   She was employed at Beach Nursing Home and Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.   She truly loved caring for the Sisters at the IHM.

In her free time, Nancy enjoyed spending time with family and friends while spending many evenings playing a friendly game or two of Euchre.

Nancy Mae Rigel, age 84, passed away on Friday; March 4, 2022, at ProMedica Monroe Skilled Nursing and Rehab.   Her passing was preceded by her parents; her husband: Jake; and her sister: Shirley Stotz.
