Obituary of James Herschal Davis, Jr.
James Herschal Davis, Jr. was born in Monroe, Michigan on March 2, 1960. He was one of three children born from the union of James Herschal and Myrtle (Chapman) Davis. James would attend St. John the Baptist Catholic School as a child and graduate from Monroe High School with the class of 1979.
As a collector of all things vintage, James, would seek out old time toys to add to his compilation. He fed his hobby of accumulating antiques, by attending local auctions and local estate sales. Two of his favorite places to visit were Baker’s Auction in Maybee, Michigan and Hamblin Auction in Ida. Although, he was sure to frequent these local treasures, James, was more than willing to attend any sale within reason, anywhere in Michigan!
James could often be found listening to old southern songs and music, but when Feliz Navidad came on the radio, he stopped everything he was doing to give that song his full attention. James looked forward to spending quality time with his sister, Bonnie and nephew, Ronald. The dynamic trio often took their chances shouting out BINGO at Point Place. Every night, James found peace and comfort in feeding the farm animals that he just happened to stumble across one day in Carleton. James enjoyed the companionship he received from his feline friend, a black cat, named Edgar. This relationship was an essential part of his life.
