Obituary of Michael Claude Polley

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michael Claude Polley was born in Monroe, Michigan on May 12, 1989.   He was the son of Heidi Lynne Polley.   Michael attended Monroe High School and Dundee Alternative High School where he would earn his GED.

Although, Michael, completed several college courses, he soon realized that the trades was the correct career path for him.   He valued a good day’s work and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty.   For more than ten years he had been employed as a Laborer with Local 499 out of Ann Arbor.   Michael was extremely proud to work on many local construction projects including at the community college with Mosher Electric and currently the oil refinery in Ohio with Geo. Gradel Company.

Engaged to Jennifer Lynn Bastianelli, the couple were blessed with a daughter:  Malia.   Mike was an excellent provider for his family and a loving, doting father to his daughter.   His daughter was his world, and their relationship was amazing, so it was quite easy to see why he might get the nickname “Good Time Daddy”.   He was also just as fond of his niece:  Amelia Moody.

The family attended Stewart Road Church of God together.   Michael loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing to relax.   Interestingly enough, although Mike loved to garden and plant flowers, he loathed cutting the grass.

A wonderful son, he was kindhearted, quick witted, respectful, and well-mannered.   Mike was quiet but had a wonderful sense of humor.   Always the comedian, those around him had to listen quite carefully to appreciate his cut and dry sense of humor.   He loved to eat, experimenting with new foods every chance he had, play poker, ride minibikes, and sleep in no particular order.

Michael Claude Polley, age 32, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly on Friday; December 31, 2021.   His passing was preceded by his brother:  Hunter Guthrie in 2019 and his maternal step grandfather:  Jack Carter, whom he was exceptionally close to.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved finace:  Jennifer Lynn Bastianelli; his mother and her significant other:  Heidi Lynne Polley (Lou Sziriski); a daughter:  Malia Bastianelli-Polley; one brother:  Brock Guthrie; two nieces: Amelia Moody and Cecelia Bastianelli; former stepfather:  Tim Guthrie; maternal grandparents:  Marsha Carter and Jim Howard; and numerous aunts and uncles and close friends.
