Obituary of Peggy Ellen Graves
Peggy Ellen Graves was born on April 1, 1949 in Speedwell, Tennessee. She was the eldest of four children born from the union of Marion Green Graves and Laura Beatrice (Atkins) Graves. She gradauted in 1968 from Monroe High School.
For many years, Peggy attended worship at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church where she had been baptized. Peggy always seemed to be happy, and had a warm and inviting smile on her face. Her infectious smile seemed to put at ease the worries of those areound her. Peggy was a caring and kind-hearted person, she brought joy and laughter to every gathering.
Valuing the simpler things in life, Peggy appreciated all her blessings. Her greatest blessing next to the birth of her daughter Jennifer was that of her granddaughter: McKenzie Gonyon. Peggy never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.
For many years, Peggy, supported herself as a laborer employed by B and M in Tecumseh making Chrysler parts.
Peggy Graves, age 72 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Friday; November 5, 2021 at University of Toledo Medical Center. Her passing was preceded by her parents and one brother: Dale.
To cherish her memory, she leaves one daughter: Jennifer Gonyon of Monroe; one granddaughter: McKenzie Gonyon also of Monroe; two sisters: Charlene (Dan) Helton of Knoxville, Tennessee and Kay Graves of Tennessee; a former sister-in-law whom she remainded close to and her husband: Cecilia (Nathan) Thompson; one niece: Victoria Graves and three nephews: Dan Jr., Ronnie, and Jeff; a host of cousins; and a close friend: Brian Keith Mozingo whom she thought of as a son.
Friends may gather on Tuesday: November 9, 2021 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 7:00pm also at Merkles with Reverend Troy Maiden officiating. Cremation will take place through Covenant Cremation of Erie.
