Alice May VanderVlucht was born in Monroe, Michigan on May 11, 1942. She was the daughter of Garhart VanderVlucht and Charlotte (Schwartz) VanderVlucht.   She was a 1959 graduate of Monroe High School.  

Alice was joined in marriage to William Lajiness on June 24, 1961 at St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Erie. The couple would be blessed with the birth of three children:  Bill Jr., Tim, and Connie.  Alice and Bill enjoyed camping at their property on Barry Lake in Reading, Michigan.   Alice was known for her creativity and enjoyed designing and making handmade crafts.

Alice May Lajiness, age 79, of Erie, Michigan passed away peacefully on Monday, October 18, 2021 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband: Bill Lajiness Sr.; sons: Bill Lajiness Jr. and Tim Lajiness; and daughter: Connie Rainsberger.

No public services have been planned.   Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.   Her care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, Erie; 9156 Summit Street, Erie, Michigan 48133 (734) 317-7199.
