Obituary of Cindy Sue Elliott

Please share a memory of Cindy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cindy Sue Saar was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 29, 1958 to the union of Charles and Joyce (Cowden) Saar. Cindy attended Libbey High School in Toledo. On November 17, 1977 she wed Michael Elliott. The couple were blessed with two sons and two daughters. Cindy and her family lived overseas for a time when her husband was stationed in Germany with the United States Army. She was employed as the store manager of Half Off Card Shop in the former Frenchtown Square Mall in Monroe, Michigan for many years.

Cindy and her son maintained a flower garden lush with Zinnias and her favorite flower, Marigolds. They considered it their “therapy” and enjoyed spending the time together. Part of Cindy’s daily routine was making sure she fed the birds and had plenty of peanuts for the squirrels, who came to visit. Cindy was adventurous in the kitchen and enjoyed trying new recipes. Her family always looked forward to tasting her specialty chicken alfredo and variety of salads. She had a vast collection of Angel figurines filling the shelves in her home. Cindy adored her grandchildren. She played games with them and sat outside in the heat all day long as they splashed about in the pool. Most importantly, she prayed with them and taught them about God.

Cindy was very spiritual and a devout Christian. She attended Monroe Full Gospel Church and Stewart Road Church of God. She read the Bible often and kept a prayer journal. Cindy often tuned in to the Christian radio station, Smile FM. She would sing along to her favorite song, “Take Me to the King” by Tamela Mann. Cindy truly abided by the Commandment to “Love Thy Neighbor”. She looked after everyone, babysat for children and shared vegetables from her garden. Cindy abided by the golden rule and loved others how she wanted to be loved. She offered everyone grace, mercy, and compassion. Cindy never lost her faith throughout her illness and praised Jesus to the end. Her hands were raised to the Lord until the last moments before she was welcomed into the Heavenly Kingdom.
