Obituary of Robert Carl Hiszak

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert Carl Hiszak was born at home in Erie, Michigan on September 3, 1937. He was one of six children born to Julius and Cornelia (Csizek) Hiszak. Bob attended St Joseph School and in 1956 graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School. Bob proudly served his country as a Seabee in the United States Navy. He continued his education at Monroe County Community College, where he attended trade classes. On October 25, 1958 he wed Ruth Trapp at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie and they enjoyed nearly sixty-three years of marriage and were blessed with six children of their own.

Bob was a member of Teamsters Union Local 20 as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic retiring from Kuhlman Corporation in 2002. Bob was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Saint Joseph Council #7413 and former Grand Knight. He was passionate about football and often on Saturdays and Sundays you would hear his enthusiasm for his favorite teams.  Amazingly, he always kept a glimmer of hope that the Lions would have a winning season.  In 1963 he and his family purchased property on Bear Lake in Hillsdale, Michigan.  Five generations of family have and will continue to enjoy spending time at the Lake. Truly one of a kind, Bob was a dedicated family man who always put their needs before his. If you appraise a man’s worth by the love of his family, Bob was rich beyond all measure.
