Obituary of Laura Lee Dunmore

Laura Lee Evans was born on October 15, 1943 in Monroe.   She was one of seven children born from the union of the late Robert and Virginia (Cooley) Evans.   At a young age, Laura, became known by her middle name of “Lee”, which stuck with her throughout her life.

In June 1965, she married the love of her life: Duane Dunmore.   The couple would be blessed with three children: Kimberly, Vickie, and Jessie.   Lee would care for the needs of her family as a homemaker.

Holidays were always a special time for Lee.   She looked forward to family get gatherings with her favorite celebrations being Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.   She always went “all-out” with decorations, and continually paired the festivities with traditional home cooked meals.

Lee cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, often referring to them as “her life”.   She never acted her age and was always willing to get down on the floor and behave just as crazy as them.  Lee always supported her family providing for their every need.   She prided herself on staying up to date with currents event and faithfully watched CNN during the election to have the most up to date coverage.   Lee also enjoyed shopping, whether alone or with an entourage, she appreciated bargain hunting at Walmart or the local Dollar Store.   

Laura “Lee” Dunmore, age 77, of Monroe passed away at her home at 6:40am on Saturday; May 1, 2021, surrounded by her daughters and granddaughter.   In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband: Duane; her son:  Jessie Dean Mullins, Jr.; her siblings:  Woody Evans, Bob Evans, and June Carter; and nephew: Randy Evans.

To cherish her memory, she leaves two daughters:  Kim (Timothy) Peters and Vickie (Eric) Cook; six grandchildren:  Timothy Peters, Jr., Jessica Peters, Nicolas Cook, Tyler Cook, Jacob Cook, and Ashley Cook; three siblings:  Dorothy Moore, Beverly Stang, and Jack Evans; and three great grandchildren:  Stella Peters, Timothy Peters III, and Kinslee Cook.

Friends may gather from 1:30pm until 2:30pm on Saturday; March 8, 2021 at One Way Christian Fellowship; 420 Jerome Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161.   A Worship Service Celebrating Her Life will follow at 2:30pm with Pastor BJ McDaniel officiating.   Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185 was entrusted with her care.
