Obituary of Ken Marshall

Please share a memory of Ken to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kenneth Harry Marshall was born in Monroe on June 2, 1937.   Son of the late Samuel Louis and Elzora (Thibert) Marshall.  Ken attended Catholic Central, graduating with the class of 1955.  In 1956, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he would proudly serve for twenty years, retiring in 1976 as a Master Sergeant.   Not one to sit around, Ken, took employment with the Ford Motor Company working as a Millwright an additional eighteen years before retiring in 1994.

Kenneth married the love of his life, Margie Yensch, on June 5, 1959, at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.  Together the couple had two daughters.   Providing for and being a positive role model for his family was extremely important to him.  Every year during shutdown, the family took a vote on whether to go on vacation or to purchase a big-ticket item.

A kid at heart and full of life, Kenneth was always smiling.  In his younger years, he and Margie spent time going to the local baseball games.  Sledding, biking and just simply playing with his grandchildren was what he lived for.   He also enjoyed sharing stories about his Air Force years, fishing, woodworking, birdwatching, and tinkering with his computers.

Kenneth Harry Marshall, age 83, a lifetime resident of Monroe, passed away at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital at 5:46pm, on Wednesday; April 7, 2021.   In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his wife:  Margie; three brothers:  Thomas Marshall, Robert Marshall, and Arthur Yensch; three sisters:  Helen Ferguson, Shirley Lajiness, Jackie Gotha; and his beloved German Shepherd companion:  Whiskey.

To cherish his memory, he leaves two daughters: Leslie Ann Marshall-McLaughlin and Paula (Christopher) Collyer; a sister:  Bonnie Preston; a brother:  Jerry (Sue) Marshall; and five grandchildren: Alexa McLaughlin, Jade McLaughlin, Tyler McLaughlin, Morgan Collyer, and Taylor Collyer.
