Obituary of Joseph Frank Scznsny

Joseph Frank Scznsny was born on March 24, 1956 in Monroe, Michigan.   He was one of six children born from the union of Joseph V. and Patricia (Slomkowski) Scznsny.   He would attend Monroe Schools and graduated with the Class of 1974 from Monroe High School.  

Joseph would gain employment as a heavy equipment operator serving several employers over the course of his more than twenty-year career.   He was a proud union operator and would staunchly defend his organization to anyone who might disagree.

Joseph wasn’t one to be cooped up.   He cherished the time he spent at his brother Doug’s cottage in Houghton Lake, Michigan.   The duo looked forward to each other’s company and hunting.   Joseph especially disliked the cold Michigan winters.   To combat this, he took the opportunity to spend many winters in the Sunshine State of Florida.   Joseph valued riding his Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle anytime he could.  He often took rides on the back roads to take in the local scenery and breathe in the fresh open country air.

Joseph had a love for all children, but he adored his own granddaughter.   His face beamed with joy at her sight.  Daily, Joseph made sure to catch an episode of the Andy Griffith show.   He loved to cook; rarely following a recipe he made his own special concoctions, and it was believed that his brownies might just be the best ever baked. 

Joseph Frank Scznsny, age 64, of Monroe, Michigan passed away unexpectedly at his Florida home on Sunday; March 21, 2021.   His passing was preceded by his parents.

To cherish his memory, he leaves one son: Jason (Miranda) Scznsny; two grandchildren: Ella Olivia Scznsny and Joshua Anthony Scznsny; five siblings: Douglas (Annette) Scznsny, Helen (Joe) Volpi, Tina Scznsny, Tammy (Dennis) Thoma, and Gail (Retsel) Adams; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may gather on Monday; March 29, 2021 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Worship Service Celebrating His Life, led by Deacon Mike Stewart, will take place at 11:00m on Tuesday; March 30, 2021 also at Merkle’s.   Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe for burial.
