Betty Jean (Woods) Trowbridge was born on November 5, 1933 in Monroe, Michigan to the union of Albert and Mae (Raines) Woods. She attended Monroe High School. On October 11, 1952 Betty was joined in marriage to Kenneth Trowbridge by Rev. Ira A. Moses from Franklin Street Church of God. The couple were blessed with a son and two daughters.  After her children were grown, Betty began working as an assistant supervisor at the L’eggs Hanes Bali factory outlet store until her retirement in 1995.

Betty and her husband, Ken, enjoyed traveling to Florida every Winter to socialize with their friends and soak up the sunshine. They also spent time at their family cottage on Little Long Lake in Fremont, Indiana where they would hold cookouts and enjoyed spending time on the lake. When she was closer to home, Betty liked to go fishing on Lake Erie and spent countless hours canning the harvest from her vegetable garden. She enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles, playing along with Wheel of Fortune on television and patiently crocheting afghans and hats for her family. More than anything else she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was a lifetime member of N. Monroe Street Church of God.

Betty Jean Trowbridge, age 87, of Monroe, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Irma Seal, Phyllis Goda, and Edna Lewis, son in-law: John Rupert, daughter in-law: Jill Trowbridge, and grandsons: Kenneth Wayne and Richard Bugert.

Left to cherish her memory, Betty leaves her husband of 68 years: Ken Trowbridge, son: Kenneth Trowbridge II, daughters: Pamela Trowbridge and Shelley Rupert, brothers in-law: Bob Seal, Wayne Goda, and Cecil Lewis Sr., grandchildren: Amy (Tim) Moore, Krystina (Tim) Koepke, Amanda (Chad) Decker, Kayci Presley, Tammi Stillman, John Rupert, and Mark (Sherry) Rupert, seventeen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and beloved canine companion of twelve years, Dachshund, “Sam”.

The funeral service and interment at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, Michigan, will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070.
