Obituary of Scott Labadie

Please share a memory of Scott to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Scott Marvin Labadie was born in Toledo on March 30, 1965. He was the oldest of two children born from the union of the late Marvin J. Labadie and the late Shirley Etta (Lewis) Labadie. Scott graduated from Monroe High School with the Class of 1983. He later earned an Associate’s degree in mechanics from Owens Technical Institute in Toledo.

Scott married the love of his life, the former Dorothy Depew on August 1, 1987 at LaSalle First Presbyterian Church. The couple was blessed with three children. Scott was an avid bowler for over 10 years and particularly enjoyed working on his classic Oldsmobile’s. He had a 1972 Cutlass Supreme and a 1974 Cutlass as well.

To support his family, Scott worked as an auto mechanic for many years and later for Chrysler Corporation at the Dundee Engine Plant. Although Scott was basically a private person, once he got to know someone, he was very comfortable carrying on long conversations with them.  Scott earned the respect and friendship of those he worked with forming many lifelong relationships. He retired from Chrysler in 2012 due to health reasons.

Scott was always a very easy-going person, and went to all of his kids’ activities, and coached Custer School girls’ softball for a few years.  He loved the outdoors and the family took trips to places such as the Smokey Mountains, and quite a few car shows as well. Scott was particularly fond of animals and was always bringing them home. He is remembered by his family as a great dad, who was very hard working, very giving, and a huge fan of classic rock. Scott’s favorite rock groups included, Rush, Journey and Boston.

Scott Marvin Labadie, age 54, of LaSalle passed away at Advanced Specialty Hospital of Toledo on Friday, August 2, 2019, surrounded by his family. His passing was preceded by his parents; Marvin J. Labadie, Shirley Etta Labadie, and his brother; Mark Raymond Labadie, who died when Scott was a year old.

To cherish his memory, Scott leaves his wife of 32 years, Dorothy Labadie, three children; Amanda Mae Price (Ryan) of Monroe, Samantha Shirley Labadie of LaSalle, Scott R. Labadie of Lasalle, aunt and uncle; Leo and Bernice Barren, as well as several relatives and friends.
