Obituary of Ruth Conway

Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth was born in Kirk, West Virginia on September 16, 1926. She was the daughter of the late James Frasier and the late Elizabeth (Conn) Williams. Ruth married William Meade and from this union would come the birth of three children. Later she married William "Bill" Conway in Detroit, Michigan. First and foremost, Ruth, was a homemaker and she painstakingly looked after the needs of her husbands and children. She cherished the time she spent with her family. Ruth always led by example and had a strong work ethic. For more than ten years she was employed as a laborer in the Detroit linen industry before retiring in 1982. Ruth loved the outdoors and she was blessed with a green thumb, growing bountiful gardens that led to canning many fruits and vegetables each year. She also was a past member of the Monroe Moose Lodge and the Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138. She spent countless hours supporting projects and volunteering. Ruth was also a beloved grandmother to her many grandchildren, and she always looked forward to making memories with them. Ruth Meade-Conway, age 88, of Monroe passed away peacefully at 9:12am on Monday, April 6, 2015 at ProMedica Monroe Skilled Care and Rehab. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her beloved husband of sixteen years: William Conway in 1991; and two infant great-granddaughters. To cherish her memory Ruth leaves two sons: Earmel "Glen" (Beverly) Meade and William "Bill" (Annette) Meade Jr. both of Newport; one daughter: Roma (Pilar "Jacko") Meade- Gutierrez of Monroe; a sister: Rhoda Adkins of West Virginia; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
