Obituary of Louella Kay Thomas

Please share a memory of Louella to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Louella Kay Walton was born on January 18, 1937 in Louisville Kentucky. She was one of 7 children born from the union of her parents: the late Saunders P. Walton and the late Etta (Meadows) Walton. Louella was blessed with four children and she worked hard to make sure they were well taken care of. In her younger years, she spent countless hours on the farm raising and racing horses.

Louella loved to laugh and have a good time. She enjoyed trips to the casino, listening to Southern Country music, dancing and playing BINGO with friends. She loved to cook, and everyone enjoyed her famous: Blackberry Cobbler. She never got a temper but wouldn’t shy away from letting you know you were out of line by throwing a shoe at you…… and she never missed!

Above anything, Louella loved her family. She was an amazing mother to her four children and the best grandmother anyone could ask for. Her loving nature earned her a special place in the hearts of many and she was considered a “grandma to everyone.” To know Louella is to love her and she will be deeply missed by many.

Louella Kay Thomas, age 82 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Medilodge of Monroe after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Her passing is preceded by her sisters: Faye (the late Paul) Pritchard and Jane (the late Joe) Canup; her brothers: Bud Walton and Jimmy Walton; and her grandson: Kyle Burt.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her children: Cynthia Priestly of Brighton, Gwendolyn (the late Jude) DeFiore of Taylor, Brian Keith Thomas of Oxford and Jason Allen (Nicole) Thomas of Howell; her sisters: Joy Leski of Farmington and Jennifer (Bobby) York of Kentucky; her grandchildren: Kaitlin Spencer, Annie (Brandon Duncan) DeFiore, Emily Thomas and JT Thomas Jr.; her great grandchildren: Charles, Christopher and Addelyn and many extended family members and friends.
