Obituary of Scott Allen Kopka

Scott Allen Kopka was born on May 13, 1961 in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of four children born from the union of Harold Kopka and Kay “Cookie” (Matyas) Kopka. Scott attended Dundee Schools earning his GED in 1981. Scott was a hard worker and he loved to work at his position for Ford Motor Company, always talking about it. For many years he worked the graveyard shift. Scott was employed for more than twenty-five years at the Dearborn Truck Plant as a Utility Production Worker. Scott married the former Rachele Larkin and the couple was blessed with boys: Jason and Ryan. He would later marry Lori Emerick in 1992, and he would again be blessed, this time with twin sons: Jacob and Nik. Scott loved watching NASCAR and he enjoyed the NBA, being a big fan of Lebron James, but more than anything he was extremely proud of his boys being a constant attendee at their events. He especially loved to watch them play basketball. Even with their busy schedules, Scott, Jacob, and Nik each week made time to meet for Sunday breakfast at Bob Evans or the Coney Island. Scott was happy go-lucky and fun-loving. He knew how to tell a good joke and had a great sense of humor. Scott was known by one of his “signatures” treating himself yearly to a new pair of white New Balance shoes. Scott Allen Kopka, age 57, of Blissfield passed away at home unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. His passing was preceded by two beloved sons: Jason and Ryan Kopka. To cherish his memory he leaves twin sons: Jacob and Nik Kopka of Blissfield; his parents: Harold of Milan and “Cookie” of Dundee; one sister: Korinna Phillips of Dundee; two brothers: Doug Kopka (Heather Moore) and Ken (Valerie) Kopka both of Dundee; one grandson: Ashton; and six nieces and nephews: Drew, Helena, Cassidy, Zach, Kayle and Brevin.
