Obituary of Mackie "Mack" Johnson
Mackie “Mack” Johnson was born on April 19, 1950 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was one of five children born from the union of the late: Mack Johnson and the late Lula (Sheckels) Johnson. He was a graduate of Middlesboro High School.
Mack married the love of his life: Rhonda Cicanese on August 31, 1990 and they became a blended family. Mack worked as a truck driver for over 40 years and after retirement, drove truck again part time.
Mack was a very accomplished dancer alongside his wife; and together, they were the 1998 United Country Western Dance Council Classic Diamond Advanced World Champions. When they weren’t competing, they enjoyed teaching dance and social dancing with friends. Mack also enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife taking day trips across the beautiful state of Michigan and Ohio.
Family came first to Mack and he would spend as much time with them as possible. He had a very playful personality and loved making those around him laugh by telling jokes and playing pranks. This made it very easy for him to make lasting friendships. He was very handy around the house, maintained his vehicles, enjoyed woodworking and keeping his yard meticulous and watching his Detroit Tiger’s play ball. His endless amounts of knowledge made him everyone’s “go to” person in the community. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Mackie “Mack” Johnson, age 68, of Monroe, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Promedica Regional Hospital under the care of Hospice surrounded by his family. His passing is preceded by his parents.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved wife of 28 years: Rhonda Johnson; his children: Mack Todd Johnson, Trevor Rogoff and Jason (Amanda) Johnson; sisters: Eddie Jo (Rex) Treece, Patricia (Jerry) Lane, Shelia Collins and Debbie (Mike) Harris; grandchildren: Erin Johnson, Kaylyn Johnson, Mack Jason Johnson, Arianna Rogoff and Jacob Johnson; great grandchildren: Shelby, Carter, Kaylee and Macy May and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Friends may gather on Friday, September 7 from 10:00am at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe 14567 South Dixie Highway, (734)241-7070 until a Celebration of His Life at 2:00pm with Pastor Roy Southerland from Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
