Obituary of William "Billy" Carpenter
William Carpenter the son of Tim Carpenter and Dana McGlathery was born in Adrian, Michigan on April 17, 1984. At a young age, Billy, was introduced to what would become a lifelong love of four wheelers and dirt bikes. With a strong work ethic he soon bought his very own. At times during his years at Airport High School, Billy, maintained his grades and two jobs. He graduated with the Class of 2003.
Mikyla Allen was born in Dearborn, Michigan on March 12, 1990 the daughter of Michele (Allen) Dennis. She attended school in Lincoln Park, Ecorse, and Airport Districts.
The couple’s paths would cross in 2012 while Mikyla was visiting family in Monroe. They instantly hit it off and soon made their home together.
William loved to work with his hands wrenching on anything mechanical and also loved to do woodworking. For the past eight years he had been employed as a mechanic. He was employed with Chief’s Trucking and currently with Trailer Connections. Billy was an excellent employee and a fabulous teammate to those he worked with.
Mikyla on the other hand loved children especially babies, and was well known in her neighborhood by all of the children. She enjoyed reading, painting, drawing, and crocheting. She absolutely loved dolphins. For a few years, Mikyla, served as the Manager of the North Dixie Subway, but recently she took a leap of faith and began a new position as the Office Manager for Trailer Connections as well.
William, 34, and Mikyla, 28, both passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Their passing was preceded by Billy’s grandfather: Hugh McGlathery and Mikylah’s grandfathers: Thomas Harrison and William Dennis.
William is survived by his parents: Dana McGlathery (Danny Stone) and Tim Carpenter (Kelly Schaffer); maternal grandmother: Rita McGlathery; children: Thomas Alexander Ellison and Baby K; brother: James Brandon Carpenter (Gina Gonzales); three aunts and uncles: Dennis (Elizabeth) McGlathery, David (Mary) McGlathery, and Diane McGlathery.
Mikyla is survived by three children: Jason Goin, Madison Goin, and Kaelynne Allen “Baby K”; mother: Michele (William) Dennis; maternal grandparents: Dianna Harrison, Francis Marion (Linda) Allen, Donna Dennis; one brother: Michael Allen; maternal uncles and aunts: John (Julie) Allen, Kenneth (Gina) Allen, Jennifer Allen, and Crystal Harrison.
Friends may gather from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of Their Lives will follow at 12:00pm also at Merkle’s with Chaplain Jody Porter officiating.
