Matthew "Matt" Rojem

Obituary of Matthew "Matt" Richard Rojem

Matthew Richard Rojem was born on January 9, 1971 in Monroe. He was the son of James R. and the late Marcia Mae (Baker) Rojem. Matt attended Jefferson High School where he was recognized as a phenomenal track star graduating in 1989.

Matt worked hard to care for his family as a carpenter/superintendent for over 25 years, most recently for Christman Constructors. Extremely selfless, he was devoted to his family and ensured they were well taken care of.

Matt had four children and joined families with Cinnamon Mayes, adding two more children to their beautiful blended family. Matt was very involved with his children and their activities, watching all their sporting events and often advocating for Dundee wrestling. Spending time with his family meant the most to him.

Matt would spend his time outdoors, hunting or fishing whenever he had the chance. He often traveled to Venice Beach, Florida and Gulf Shores to cast his fishing line into the beautiful waters. A natural entertainer, Matt always tried to make those around him smile, laugh and have a good time. He loved to cook for guests and enjoyed singing and listening to music of all genres. He was a friend to everyone and as his father said, the best son a father could ask for.

Matthew “Matt” Richard Rojem, age 47 of Monroe passed away from an unexpected health failure on July 6, 2018 at The University of Michigan Hospital. In addition to his mother on May 29, 2018, his passing was preceded by his four-legged companion: Kane.

(Miranda) Dayvolt of Dundee, Douglas Matthew (Kassidy Roe) Rojem of Dundee, Brittani Diane Rojem of Dundee, Breanna Leanne (Kenny Reinhart) Rojem of Dundee, Dakota Weikum (Jordan Carroll) of Monroe, and Rio Weikum of Monroe; his sister: Mistie Mae Rojem (Ray Noble Jr.) of Flat Rock;  his brother: Frankie Gonzales (Kevin) of Newport; two grandchildren: Zoe Gabrielle Dayvolt and Chloe James Dayvolt; and Drake Chaffin and Ray Noble.
